Two words from groom seconds after couple’s vows ruined wedding and foreshadowed marriage

A recent TikTok video has gone viral, sharing a woman’s heartbreaking story of how her husband ruined their wedding day with just two words, mere seconds after they were married. The incident, which occurred over a decade ago, has haunted the woman for years and has sparked a conversation about recognizing red flags in relationships early on.

The couple had been dating for four months when they decided to have a small ceremony at a magistrate’s office. Everything seemed perfect until about 60 seconds after they were pronounced husband and wife.

When the judge expressed hope to see them again in 10 years, the bride jokingly responded that she hoped to still fit in her dress. Her new husband immediately retorted with two devastating words: “or smaller”

Oh no he didn’t.

The woman, after the comment, said she “died inside” and froze like a statue. She also stated she was heartbroken and momentarily felt unable to breathe. It was then she realized her intuition was correct and something was very wrong.

Even the judge was shocked, saying to the groom, “Son, you just got married.”

Talk about killing the moment…

Despite the red flags, the woman remained in the marriage for ten years despite psychological abuse and gaslighting. Her husband convinced her that she was “crazy and dramatic” when in reality, he “hated her guts from the beginning.”

The marriage ultimately ended in divorce, with her husband asking for a separation around their tenth wedding anniversary.

The video has garnered over 2 million views and 5,000 comments, with many women sharing similar experiences of realizing their marriages were doomed early on.

The story has resonated with many, highlighting the importance of recognizing warning signs in relationships and the need for education on healthy partnerships. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the impact that seemingly small comments can have on a relationship, especially at such a significant moment as a wedding day. It also underscores the importance of mutual respect and support in a marriage, right from the very beginning.

Words have consequences.
